All Appointments Are Advance Booking Only
What to expect when you arrive
Your first appointment will take around 60 minutes and will involve the chiropractor taking a full case history before a thorough examination and, where appropriate, orthopaedic and neurological testing. The chiropractor will carefully analyse your case history and the information that has been gathered during examination to decide on a working diagnosis before devising an appropriate individualised treatment plan that also considers any past medical history and current medication. If it is deemed safe and suitable to treat a treatment will be performed within the first session.
Subsequent treatments will take up to 40 minutes and with the aim of progressively working towards improved pain levels and functioning.
Meet Your Chiropractor
Hi, I’m Michael, Chiropractor and founder of Formby Chiropractic. Having always been active in my younger years my interest in chiropractic first began after developing chronic low back pain after an awkward fall whilst playing football. After suffering for months and with no sign of the pain going away, a friend advised to visit a chiropractor! Sceptical at first, I decided to give it a go and a couple of sessions later I was pain-free! This ignited a passion for chiropractic and since then I have seen at first hand the results that chiropractic can provide both physically and mentally and I feel it is a great privilege to be able to call myself a chiropractor. After spending some time working in clinics around the North West, I felt the time was right to open up my own space here in the heart of Formby, where I can help people locally and in the surrounding areas to get back to their best”
“I find chiropractic fascinating, and it gives me great satisfaction to help people to improve their health and wellbeing each and every day”

My approach to care
My approach to care is dependent on the individual needs of the patient and alongside chiropractic, I tailor my care to often incorporate other treatment modalities such as mobilisations, soft tissue techniques and acupuncture, as I deem necessary.
A little more information about the chiropractic technique I use is provided below
McTimoney Chiropractic
The McTimoney method of chiropractic was developed by the late chiropractor John McTimoney over 50 years ago. McTimoney is recognised for being a precise, whole-body approach to chiropractic care, making it appropriate for people of all ages, from the very young to the more mature members of the community.
Given that the body functions bio-mechanically as a “kinematic chain” rather than individual pieces within a whole, McTimoney chiropractors assess and treat regional areas of the entire body rather than solely focusing on symptomatic areas. Unlike other forms of chiropractic, McTimoney uses faster speed as the basis for effectiveness rather than increased tension around the joint. It therefore does not typically create the “crack” or popping sound some patients say they dread.
According to the McTimoney Chiropractic Association, approximately 150,000 new patients will visit a McTimoney Chiropractor each year and 8,000 patients receive McTimoney Chiropractic each working day (2015).
The title of “chiropractor” is protected by law, and it is a criminal offence for anyone to describe themselves as a chiropractor without being registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC).
I am a fully registered member of the GCC and the McTimoney Chiropractic Association and am fully insured to practice. I am also a technique instructor at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic, where I enjoy helping potential future chiropractors on their journey into qualifying into the profession.
